Happy Easter!
Mama and Papa Tigger headed to G-Pa and G-Ma's in VA this weekend. It was great fun meeting all the strangers that know all about Tigger (apparently G-Ma and G-Pa are VERY excited...). Papa Tigger went to the market with G-Pa and was congratulated at every turn. Very funny...
Easter dinner was Saturday evening. It was a fun time - a few neighbors came by as well as Clint and Katherine - very interesting people. Clint worked for Corning for years and actually helped develop the iPhone glass. I had fun showing him the nicks, dents and scratches on the aluminum back of my iPhone, yet the pristine glass front that still has nairy a scratch... Oh, and Papa Tigger got his ham. And his apple dessert. And Mama Tigger got her crescent rolls...
Speaking of crescent rolls, Auntie-to-be Meghan thought it would be funny to throw a tube of unmade rolls in our bag as we left. Little did she know that we would be enjoying those same rolls as we write...

Week 13
She's actually pregnant! Mama Tigger started showing this past weekish, so in the vein of her sister-in-law's belly shots, we are going to try and post a shot similar to this each week...

Two Hands, Two Feet, and a Tasty Thumb!
Tigger Thomas exists! Mama Tigger has not felt much different since "the stick" back in January - no morning sickness, etc. So, it has been tough for us to be sure that Tigger really existed. That was, until today.
We had our first sonogram. And all was well!
The technician even had me poke it a bit, so it would shift around - very funny. It even did this funky levitation thing at one point. And, as photo #2 proves, it loves its thumb already!
Today's appointment was a consultation with a "high-risk" doctor - something every parent-to-be wants to hear. But, have no fear - all was well. Heartbeat is there and normal. Normal size for the age (12 weeks). And the only change to Mama Tigger's existing regiment is that she needs to keep a closer eye on her blood pressure. Yeah!

What Morning Sickness?
I'll probably jinx myself by posting this, but I have to say that I've had practically no symptoms yet. I haven't had any morning sickness and much to Papa Tigger's dismay, no cravings. I think he can't wait for me to send him to the store with an order for pickles and ice cream.
I have found myself wanting donuts and Indian food (not together), but I'm not sure it's cravings. I think the donut thing is using Tigger as an excuse to eat sugary goodness and the Indian is because of the great Indian restaurants I've found in Boston (where I'm currently working).
In all seriousness, I have found it harder to eat healthy. This is mostly because I can't eat a lot of my go-to healthy foods. I used to eat salmon 2-3 days a week. Now it's off limits. And a low fat turkey sandwich? Nope! No deli meats unless reheated or warmed.
Last night Papa Tigger and I talked about giving him a list of 'Not to Eat' foods. I came up with lots of good ones - wheat, eggs and cheese:) Maybe a little too broad in scope, but he should share in the fun too!

Places Tigger Has Been
So, this is evolving to an electronic baby book - something Tigger can look back on to learn about his/her pre-born "life". I thought it would be fun to log the places s/he has been so far!
Ideally, I would like to add a map to the sidebar with push pins, but I haven't found the right widget yet. For now, it'll be a list...

Easter Seals!
Mama Tigger and I took a look at an Easter Seals childcare center last Friday. We think we found the place to take care of Tigger, and the waiting list is only 6 months!
It seems that the further you get from downtown, the easier it is to get in to places. Fortunately for us, Easter Seals is only 5 blocks from our house! Convenience - check.
They cater to both typical and special needs children, careful to keep classrooms mixed to ensure all are able to learn from each other. Unique opportunity for Tigger to learn something not all kids get to experience - check.
We learned about NAEYC accreditation from my friend Wendy. Easter Seals happens to be the first and only place we visited that is accredited. They have a few standards that can only help in creating a good environment. Higher standards than your average childcare center - check.
And the clincher for me - everything in the place is bilingual. Anywhere something is posted, written, etc., it is in both English and Spanish. The center is north of our house, which is a predominantly Hispanic area. Many of the families speak only Spanish. Exposure to another language & culture - check!
So, we are on the list. It's interesting how we have heard very little about this place - none of the folks we have spoken with about daycare in the city mentioned it, no mentions on the message boards. More due diligence is needed, but I think both Mama Tigger and I feel like the search is over... Yeah!

Baby Gear
Well, it's March and we're entering month #3. We had a fun weekend, so we wanted to update the blog. Plus the grandparent police (to borrow a term from my sister-in-law) made a comment about slowing posts on the blog, so......
Papa Tigger and I were in Texas for a wedding reception and decided to swing by Babies R Us to check out baby gear. Like typical MBAs, we've orderd Consumer Report's Best Baby Products to help us select the best baby gear. We had some time Saturday afternoon so Papa Tigger suggested we go to Babies R Us to start getting some ideas. I thought it was so cute that it was his idea:)
What a selection! At first, we felt a little inept when we couldn't figure out some of the strollers, but overall it was a good trip. We started to form some opinions on what we liked and what we didn't. I almost took Papa Tigger's picture at one point. He looked so cute - he had a baby carrier in each arm (testing them) and was listening to a pregnant woman who walked by to offer her opinion. What a picture!
