July 4th

Tigger enjoyed his first July 4th sleeping, which is more than we can say for Major. (Throughout the night, Major needed to jump up and check the house out after each bottle rocket...)

In the afternoon, the fam walked to the Mall to check out the hordes of tourists.

We took a break so the dog could catch his breath, and hung out for a picnic.

Oh, grass!
Our son, the future technophile...

We got out of there before the true masses showed up, and went to a neighbors for a BBQ. Unfortunately, no pics of that time though...

But alas, happy 4th!

New Toys for Tigger

As you may have guessed from all the posts, Tigger spends a lot of time playing. He's starting to figure things out and is becoming a handful! He likes pulling apart his play mat:

but we love him anyway!!

Given how much time he spends playing (it's a great life, huh?), Papa Tigger and I decided Tigger needed a few more toys. So Papa Tigger and I headed to Target and picked up a few new toys - a piano toy and ride-on firetruck. He really seems to like them!

In fact, the piano toy is helping him with his vocal skills!

I'm not sure who played harder, Tigger or Papa Tigger....

Eyes, Standing and Funny Videos

This post is an amalgamation of several topics! First, we took Caleb to the eye doctor today. You'll recall that we've been taking him for regular checkups because of Papa Tigger's eye history. Not only are Tigger's eyes perfectly normal, the doctor said that if problems haven't presented themselves by now, they probably won't. Apparently genetic eye problems like Papa Tigger's present by 6-9 months. The doctor wants us to do another checkup in a year, then the pediatrician and annual school exams should catch any problems. Yeah!!

More happy news is that Tigger is standing. Not only is he standing, but he's doing it by himself (ok, he uses the window)! The video below is evidence of him standing. It seems a bit long, but that's because Papa Tigger kept waiting for Tigger to fall or sit down. Nope, he stood the whole time!

And here are some other videos, of Papa Tigger and Tigger being funny (separately).

Cutie Playtime

I think a lot of my posts lately have been Look-at-how-cute-Tigger-is-doing-ordinary-things. But hey, he's pretty cute doing just about anything. Today, he was darn cute just playing on his play mat.

This morning, he was playing while Papa Tigger and I got ready. He's recently figured out that his playmat is a collection of foam pieces interlocked together. He thinks it's a puzzle for him to solve......

Yeah, he was almost falling over in that last one.

Later today, after I picked him up from day care, he was occupying himself while I tried to get some work done. He was so cute, I grabbed the Flip. He played happily for nearly three minutes before he realized I was filming him (and turned into a ham)!

He started to get tired after that, but I was able to grab a few seconds of him getting on all fours. Apologies for the camera work; he was trying to crawl on me while I was trying to film.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! Papa Tigger had a great first Father's Day. To start, Tigger made him some cute artwork at daycare:

On Saturady, Papa Tigger had some quality time playing with Tigger:

Tigger likes to grab the camera. A lot of my pictures turn out like this:

I was taking so many pictures, Papa Tigger felt the need to protect Tigger from the flash (my thumb accidentally got in the picture too):

On Sunday (Father's Day), Papa Tigger was treated to breakfast in bed. Then he got a card from me and Tigger. I made the card using pictures of Papa Tigger and Tigger. It was really cute!

After a picnic at our church, Papa Tigger spent the afternoon doing something very fatherly - putting up baby gates to "protect the child!" Our house has three levels, so there are quite a few stairs that Tigger can fall down. Now that he's crawling, we're starting to baby-proof the house. Here are the before pictures:

And some action shots. Tigger even got in on it!

And here are the after pictures. Papa Tigger did a great job!!

They are a bit obtrusive, but we have some extra parts because we didn't want to drill into the banisters. Just to make sure he did a good installation job, Papa Tigger tested the gates with Tigger. They're sturdy!

Walking (with help from Papa Tigger)

That's right - I said walking. Tigger has been standing (with assistance) while looking out the window, so Papa Tigger decided to see if he'd take some steps while standing. Check out what he did (you can hear me in the background getting a little excited):

Another one of Tigger's favorite things is to play with my feet. I think he likes the brightly colored toenails!

Tigger's First Tooth

Tigger has a tooth!! He's actually had it for a few weeks, but we just managed to get a good picture. Not only does he have a tooth, but he's starting to realize what it's for. We've moved from pureed to mashed food and he's learning the whole chewing thing. He's growing up so fast!

Tigger has found his lungs

Tigger is getting so smart!! He's started pulling up his play mat. It's foam squares (in different shapes) that fit together. He was trying to dismantle it yesterday, so I grabbed the Flip. While I was filming he showcased his set of lungs. He is discovering his voice!

Tigger Loves to Play

Our little boy loves to play!! In fact, he's getting more mobile. His new thing is to tip over the box of toys (see below).

He also loves strings and straps. In his stroller and car seat, he always plays with the straps. And he's just discovered shoelaces! Update from Papa Tigger: G-Pa T discovered this interest of Tigger's a few weeks ago, but no pics were available...

Here he is sitting in my lap this morning; notice the shoelace still in his hand:

Speaking of toys and playtime, Papa Tigger has informed me that we need to buy Tigger some new toys - not because Tigger is bored with them, but because Papa Tigger is. I guess playtime isn't just for Tigger!
