Tigger is getting so big - now he claps and smiles all the time. We were home today (he had a slight fever yesterday afternoon and I had to pick him up early from daycare) and I grabbed this video of him smiling and clapping. Pay no mind to the conference call in the background that I was on....

March for Babies
Today, Papa Tigger, Tigger, Major and I walked in the DC March for Babies. It was on the national mall and we all got up early so we could head downtown for a nice walk.
First though, we had to get ready. Papa Tigger discovered that his hat was a little too big for Tigger.
Of course, with the weather getting warmer in DC, we all had to put on sunscreen. Papa Tigger made sure his application of sunscreen on Tigger was very liberal.....
We were all pretty tired afterwards, so we went home and took a nap. We always love getting some exercise for a good cause!

Growing up so fast
Tigger is growing up so fast! He'd been struggling with sitting up - always toppling over when we tried to sit him up. Then in about two days, he started sitting up (and staying up) all by himself. Here he is being a big boy. It seems like just yesterday he was our little newborn blob!

Tigger's First Word
Tigger speaks!! He's been babbling for months now, and has uttered what we've decided is his first word 'Ba-Ba.' Of course, Papa Tigger and I think he's saying bottle. Here he is talking (and crying at the end - probably because I took the Flip away from him and because he was tired):

Yard Work
This post is really late, because we did yard work nearly two weeks ago. I honestly forgot about these picture on the camera until I looked today.
A few weeks ago, Papa Tigger and I decided to do some yard work. And the term 'yard work' is used loosely, since we have a 'front yard' that is about 6 feet by 6 feet (we live in DC). Our dog Major has been steadily killing most of our vegetation, so we decided to get ready for spring by planting sturdy plants that can withstand his pee!
We've been learning how to do things with Tigger and our Bumbo came in handy during the yard work. We plopped Tigger in it while we dug away.
He was pretty happy at first, then got cranky. It was nap time so we laid him down and finished the yard. It looks great now. In a few years, Tigger will be able to help!

Playtime
Every day after we pick Tigger up from daycare, Papa Tigger or I (whoever picks him up) play with him a little bit before we put him down for his cat nap. We've found that a 30 minute nap when he comes home keeps him from being cranky and fussy in the evenings.
Here he is being as cute as ever:
I also filmed a bit of him sitting up. He's just learning how to do it.
Notice the longhorn duds he's wearing? Meemaw got those for him. Aren't they cute? He's certainly the only one at his daycare wearing a longhorn romper!

Breastfeeding "Propoganda"
I think we all know that "Breast is Best" and that there is a tremendous amount of guidance given to new parents regarding the benefits of breast-feeding. Papa Tigger and I took it all in, drank the koolaid to a certain extent and decided that we would go that route with Tigger. During the pregnancy and newborn period, we were exposed to the vast amount of pro-breastfeeding information (or propoganda) that is targeted to new parents. While we agree that the benefits should be communicated, we wondered whether a more balanced viewpoint was available.
Last week, I stumbled on an interesting article called The Case Against Breast-Feeding. Don't be put off by the title; it's not anti-breastfeeding, it's just that balanced viewpoint that Papa Tigger and I were wondering about. I think it's a very interesting (and funny) article that any parent or soon-to-be-parent should read.
Like the author, I think Papa Tigger and I are glad Tigger was breastfed, will continue it for future children, but recognize that maybe the medical community doesn't have absolutely everything figured out when it comes to breast-feeding.

Tulips!
On our visit out front of the White House to deliver Auntie M's class letters, we came across some tulips in Lafayette Park.
On the way there, Tigger's sun hat had issues.
More pics from in front of the White House...
Oooh, shadows!
Two parents and a hat.

Tigger Goes to School
Mama Tigger and I headed to North Carolina for a quick trip to visit Autie M's (aka Ms. Thoms') third grade class this week. Auntie M got a quick fix of quality time with Tigger...
Here is a cute one of Mama Tigger and Tigger in the cafeteria. It was LOUD, but the kids were so funny - fighting to sit next to Mama Tigger and I...

I think I did something "wrong" and Auntie M is repremanding the students. Oops. (BTW, check out the great decorations in the room - way to go Auntie M!)
Mama Tigger and I helped the kids write letters to President Obama, promising to "hand-deliver" them to the White House. Here is the pic confirming "delivery" (we had the kids sign the envelope so they could identify it in the pic...).
