The rooms are ready!

Papa Tigger and I continue our rampage to be ready for this baby! We learned our lesson with Tigger and have been super diligent about being prepared early.

As we've mentioned in previous posts, Tigger has moved to a toddler bed and now shares the study with us. His old room, the nursery, is now all ready for Tilly. We honestly haven't changed too much (you may recall when we prepared the nursery for Tigger). We've switched from a Winnie the Pooh/Tigger theme to a water lilly theme (Tilly, lilly, water lilly - get it? Thanks for the idea Kelly!). The color palette has stayed the same. Once we decide on a name, that will go up and it will really be done!

The biggest change has been the study. We pared down our office furniture and now share it with Tigger. Here are the before pictures (and some action shots with Tigger helping)...

And after shots, with our Dr. Seuss theme. First, we squeezed the study into the front part of the room; that's a Papa Tigger custom-made desk you see. Papa Tigger calls this part of the room the collegiate gauntlet Tigger has to go through to get to his room.

We painted and put his name up, along with some Dr. Seuss wall stickers (I love eBay!).

It all goes with the Dr. Seuss bedding:

I wanted to highlight the buttons I sewed on the curtains - the colors match the bedding and wall stickers and give a pop of color to the curtains. I must give credit to our decorator for this one (though the rest of the room is all us!).

The Nursery is Done!!

The nursery is finally done!! We realize that Tigger is nearly 3 months old and this seems a little late, but he was a month early and has been keeping us busy. Here are some pictures of his new home:

The Nesting Has Begun!!!

Mama Tigger woke me up this morning by staring at me, around 9am. I quickly learned that she had been up since 6am, and had made some decisions...

First, she didn't like the rug we bought yesterday for the nursery - too dark (though I must confess I agree with her). She also decided on new accessories for our bathroom. And of course, she had a slew of new stores that we had to go to today...

Oh the joy of impending parenthood!!! I thought we were going to eschew this modern maternity materialism? I guess you can only hold out so much...

Nursery progress

So, this probably seems like a minor thing, but I'm going to call it progress nonetheless. Papa Tigger and I have been on a tear lately working on the house. It's not just 'nesting' and getting the nursery ready. We're making improvements all over the house. This is for two reasons: 1) we finally sold our house in Texas and have now given ourselves liberty to put some money into our (fairly) new DC house, 2) I'm in town now every single day (!), so I have a lot more time to focus on the house (and nudge Papa Tigger).

But since this blog is about Tigger, I'll limit my exclamations of joy to the nursery improvements. We bought blinds yesterday and since they really are Next Day Blinds, we got them today to hang. Here's the latest progress - blinds in the nursery:

Yeah!!

More work on the nursery!

Well, the nursery is definitely coming along! We finally got the missing part from JC Penney and put the crib together. And this weekend G-Ma and G-Pa T came for a visit to help us make more progress. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but the walls are a nice pale yellow.

Here's the crib with the crib mattress (thanks again Mom) and the glider. The glider turned out a little lighter than I thought, but it still works with the yellow:

And the nightstand table that will be the changing table. G-Ma T and I picked out some purple fabric this weekend. She's going to make curtains for the window above the changing table:

And the fan G-Pa T helped Papa Tigger install. There used to be just a bare light bulb there!

Thanks again G-Ma and G-Pa T for all the help!

Work begins on the Nursery

We're almost five months along now so we've started work on the nursery. As many of you know, we have a small room down the hall of the master bedroom; since we moved in we've called it the yellow room (because of the yellow walls). Well, now it's Tigger's room and we've decided that since it's such a nice shade of yellow, we're giong to keep it for Tigger.

After a lot of looking, we settled on the Olivia crib from JC Penney- thanks Mom (aka G-Ma C)! Here's a picture from the website (I don't know why they cover every crib with a big blanket in the pictures!). It's backordered for a month and should arrive sometime in June.

We also bought a glider for the nursery. At first, I was anti-glider until I found upholstered gliders; I'm just not into those cushion-covered wood ones at Babies R Us. While visiting the 'rents in Virginia a few weeks ago, we found a great deal on a swivel glider. The picture shows an off-white chair; we ordered it in eggplant (kind of a deep purple). We thought it was a nice neutral shade that still had good color. Now that I think about it, I think it's the same color as my bridesmaid's dresses!

So there you have it. It looks like the colors in the nursery will be soft yellow and deep purple. We're still working on how to incorporate some Tigger in the nursery, since he's orange and black. Next on our list is a dresser and curtains......
