He's starting to crawl

Friday afternoon, Tigger was playing on his play mat and right before my eyes, pulled himself across the mat with his arms. It was so funny because just that morning we'd told the doctor that he hasn't shown any signs of starting to crawl. Well, Tigger has a sense of humor because he decided to show us!! Here he is, doing just the smallest bit of the beginnings of crawling....

Happy 9 Month Birthday

Can you believe Tigger is 9 months old?!?! He'll be a year before you know it!

Today, he went to the pediatrician for his 9 month checkup. He's doing just great and is growing like a weed. He continues to be tall and skinny like his daddy. Here are his measurements with the percentiles:
  • 19 lbs (25-50%)
  • 29 1/4 inches in length (75%)
  • 17 1/4 inches head circumference (5-10%)

And here are the comparison pictures from when he was a few days old...

and at 9 months old...

Crazy isn't it?

Memorial Day Weekend in Texas (with no baby!) **UPDATED WITH VIDEOS**

Sorry for the lack of posting over the last week. Papa Tigger and I were traveling to Texas and just got back last night. But we're making up for lost time with lots of pictures!!

Now, don't be alarmed by the post title - we didn't leave Tigger at home when we went to Texas this weekend. We went to visit the family, but more importantly, meet Tigger's new cousin Sugar Bean (her nickname). Unfortunately, Sugar Bean is as laid back (i.e. "always late") as her parents and didn't make an appearance during our 5-day stay there. Now that we're back in DC, I'm sure she'll arrive any day now!

We started our visit on Friday, when we landed late in the afternoon. We headed to Meemaw's house, where we promptly stripped Tigger to get some air on his diaper rash (an ever present problem now that he's moving around so much). He's always such a happy boy!

Later that evening, Aunt Lorelei and cousin Cassidy came over. Papa Tigger obliged a story-reading request from Cassidy.

On Saturday, we very excitedly undertook a first - Tigger's first swimming experience! Aunt Lorelei and Uncle Michael let us join them at their neighborhood pool and lent us a baby floatie. Papa Tigger first blows it up for Tigger...

...and in we jumped!

He was a little unsure at first....

...but warmed up and smiled

Here's some video of our adventure:

Uncle Michael, Aunt Lorelei and cousin Cassidy had fun in the water too.

It started to rain, so we got out and wrapped up our short swimming adventure.

Tigger was worn out and cuddled with Mama Tigger, all warm in his towel.

Cassidy enjoyed some cuddling time with her Mama too.

Papa Tigger wanted to play in the rain with Tigger, so they ventured out from the cover of the umbrella. Tigger seems a bit unsure....

On Sunday, Tigger spent some time at Uncle Michael and Aunt Lorelei's house. Cousin Cassidy was nice enough to share some of her toys with Tigger. He had fun on the fire truck.

After playtime, we decided to head to the mall and give Uncle Michael and Aunt Lorelei's new double stroller a whirl. Tigger and Cassidy like it!

At Ikea, Cassidy had fun in the play area.

And Tigger loved looking around! Check out Cassidy in the background in the stroller.

A close up of our ham!

On Monday, the weather was much nicer, so we decided to try our hand again at the pool. At first, Tigger's not sure....

Even Mama Tigger had to get used to the water!

But we all acclimated and had lots of fun!

Tigger even got belly kisses from Papa Tigger.

Squishy face for a picture!!

Tigger even started splashing!

Meemaw sure did a great job taking all those pictures!!!
After swimming, we finished up our visit with some great Tex-Mex at Chuy's. While we waited for our table, Papa Tigger kept Tigger occupied with the trees outside.

Then, Aunt Lorelei kept him happy playing peekaboo.

The next day, we packed up and headed home. Once we got home, we unpacked and kicked up our feet to relax. Papa Tigger was having a beer and decided to let Tigger hold it. Tigger's been teething, so he started gnawing on the bottle. He's definitely too young to take a drink though!

Overall, it was a fun visit and we enjoyed seeing the family!!!

Happy Mother's Day

Today was my first Mother's Day as a mom and thanks to Papa Tigger, it was great!

First, on Friday, I got an early Mother's Day gift. Tigger (with the help of his teachers) made a little bag for me at daycare. Isn't it cute? There's a picture on the front of him smiling at day care. And the purple handprints are his.

Today, Papa Tigger surprised me with a corsage and card. Tigger even helped carry them:

Tigger really liked chewing on the corsage:

After the presents and breakfast in bed, we headed to church. Tigger had fun on the toy car in the nursery. So much fun, I think he might need one of his own.

Later in the afternoon, we headed to the zoo. Tigger's never been, so we braved the tourists and showed Tigger some animals.

Here's Tigger checking out a cheetah; it was far away and a bit hard to see in the picture, but trust me, it's there (Anna, we had to get this picture for you!).

We also saw a hippo. Tigger was already asleep, taking his afternoon nap, so he's not in the picture.

All in all, it was a great mother's day!!

Thanks to my boys for making it such a great day!!
